Competition Rules

Please check that you have adhered to the following rules. If you do not, your entry will be disqualified.

  · All entries must be submitted as if to an editor. Only one entry per member is allowed per competition, except for Poetry. In Poetry competitions two poems may be submitted up to the line limit (usually 40 lines each) and these will be considered as one entry.

· Work should be double spaced and typed in a good clear print. (e.g. Times New Roman 12 point, Arial 11 pt or an equivalent).

· Use white A4 paper and leave good margins all round. (Computer margins are usually set suitably.)

· Pages must be numbered and be held together with a paper clip. No pins, please!

· The Word Count should not be exceeded. If it states word count maximum of 2000 words, ensure you have no more. Fewer are acceptable, - but not too few.

A cover page should be attached. On it should be:

· The name of the competition you are entering

· Title.

· Your personal ONE WORD PSEUDONYM . If you submit two poems, please use two separate pseudonyms. No identifying name or address should be permitted anywhere on the entry or cover note.

· Your word count. This can be established by clicking on TOOLS. Some programs give it on the bottom left hand corner of the screen. For Poetry give the number of lines.

A sealed envelope must be attached to your entry.

· On the outside please write ONLY the TITLE of your entry and your PSEUDONYM.

· Inside place your TITLE, PSEUDONYM, your name and contact details and seal the envelope.

No entries will be accepted after the closing date. Entries are sent to the adjudicator the next day.

If you cannot hand the entry in personally, please arrange for another member to take it in for you, or post it to the appropriate Committee Member.
